Pilkhan Tree

Botanical Name: Ficus virens
Description: Pilkhan is a large, fast-growing semi-evergreen tree commonly found in South Asia. It is known for its wide spreading canopy, smooth light grey bark, and glossy green leaves. The tree can grow up to about 25–30 meters tall and often develops strong buttressed trunks and aerial roots as it matures. It produces small fig-like fruits that change from green to red or purple when ripe. Pilkhan trees are widely planted along roadsides, in parks, and in large gardens because they provide excellent shade and support wildlife such as birds and insects.
Care Instructions:
Light: Prefers full sun to partial shade. The tree grows best with several hours of direct sunlight each day.
Watering: Requires regular watering when young, but once established it becomes relatively drought tolerant. Soil should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings.
